Get ready for some serious fun! Through interactive demonstrations and activities, participants will gain hands-on experience with entertaining and enriching ways to add poetry to their classroom or childcare environment. Learn how to give dynamic poetry presentations at story time. Discover how poems can be springboards into other subjects. Create your own poems using methods suitable for writers and pre-writers alike. Everything learned can easily be adapted to suit a range of learning and physical abilities.
Objectives:
- To discover that poetry can be fun!
- To encourage participants to use poetry with young children in playful and enriching ways.
- To provide some tools to participants to do so, and give them the opportunity to try them out in a supportive environment.
*Suitable for ECE students, parents and all early learning child care professionals working with children of any age including children with extra support needs.

Presenter Information
Tiffany is the author of several critically acclaimed collections of humorous verse. Her poems have been featured in Chirp magazine, on buses for Poetry in Transit and on a plaque at Kits Beach as part of the Reading Lights initiative. For over a decade, she has entertained children of all ages with her interactive poetry performances at schools and libraries as well as at public events like Coquitlam’s 125th anniversary celebration.
