This is a two part series and participants must attend both sessions to receive a certificate for professional development hours.
Session One – Listening in the Early Years
Participants will be invited to explore their own values and motivations for their work and how these might align with concepts in the BC Early Learning Framework (2019) – including the image of the child and self, the roles of researcher and collaborator, and the art of Listening.
Session Two – What Comes After Listening?
Building from the previous session on Values to Practice, participants will be invited to explore what comes after the ‘listening’ – how/why we spend time reflecting and talking with others
(children, families, colleagues, etc.) and what it can mean for our work. We will revisit the topic of values – and how they might align with the practices of
reflection and dialogue – and how strengthening the connection between values and practice can support professionals in the Early Learning and Child Care sector.
As with all online sessions, participants must have their camera on throughout the sessions for verification of attendance.
