Play is the ultimate gateway to development in infancy and toddlerhood. This session will provide an overview of how play contributes to each developmental domain at the various stages and will offer insight on how to use play to enhance your child’s development. Developmental domains that will be discussed include language, social-emotional and cognitive skills. This workshop is suitable for caregivers and child care professionals.

Lindsey Daudelin and Maria Pinzon
Lindsey completed a Master of Science degree in Child Development at the Institute of Education-University College London, United Kingdom. She has worked in early childhood intervention in both Canada and Australia as an Infant Development Consultant, Social Worker, and Key Worker with the Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions Program. She is passionate about supporting families with children who have diverse and complex needs . Maria has worked in special education and early childhood development for 20 years. Before becoming an infant Development Consultant, Maria worked in special education for 15 years. This led to specializing in infancy to pursue supporting child development right from where it starts – infancy. Maria has a diploma in Infant Development and Supported Child Development from UBC and a degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba.
