The Capable and Confident Infant
Are you an infant-toddler educator who wants to build strong relationships with the children in your care? A 3-5 or school-age educator who does break coverage in an infant program? Or an in-home provider wondering how to care for an infant alongside the older children? Discover how respect, trust, observation, and communication can create a calmer environment and capable, confident children from infancy onward. The practical information presented in this workshop will apply to anyone interacting with infants.
This workshop is inspired by the work of Madga Gerber and the principles of the RIE educaring approach. Participants will explore the idea of seeing infants as intelligent participators in their environment. There will be an engaging mix of presentation, group discussion, and active role-play. Please bring a baby-sized doll or large stuffed animal and a diaper to fit that will be used to practice caregiving moments, and wear clothing that you would feel comfortable enough to move around.
Includes a 15 min. break.
