This evening, you’ll learn about the “Too Hot for Tots” program and Car Seat Safety. This is a valuable workshop for all care providers! Did you know? In Canada, fire and burn related injuries are the 3rd leading cause of injury-related hospital admissions for children 0-4 years of age. Injury prevention experts believe that the majority of unintentional injuries can be prevented by advocating for legislative changes to make homes safer and by implementing programs that use proven strategies. In BC, an average of 1,400 kids under age nine are injured and four are killed in motor vehicle crashes every year. Research shows that seat belts and child car seats – when used correctly – are the most effective tools in preventing injuries and deaths in car crashes.
