This course was developed by Westcoast to meet the requirements for 20 hours Responsible Adult training as stipulated by the Child Care Regulation. Through online sessions, it covers concepts about child development from birth to 12 years of age, child guidance, health, safety and nutrition and programming. This is a basic course meant for people starting their career in child care. This course is not suitable for those requiring professional development to renew an ECE or ECEA certificate.

Suitable for adults starting their career in child care. It is recommended that participants who want to open a family child care program, also take the 16-hour Family Child Care Administration Course (FCCA) in addition to Westcoast’s 20-hour Responsible Adult Course, to learn about family child care as a business. This course is not suitable for those requiring professional development to renew an ECE or ECEA certificate.
