Respectful Caregiving – Seeing Children As Capable and Competent
In this workshop, caregivers will learn about what it means to respectfully care for children in their early learning practices. Participants will be encouraged to trust in children’s competencies, to reframe their Image of the Child, and will be shown what they can do as a caregiver to reconsider their practices in more respectful ways. The importance of cooperative caregiving routines, uninterrupted play, freedom of emotional expression, clear boundaries, and respectful discipline will then bridge the content, helping instill in participants a respectfully new way of being with children.
