This presentation builds on the work of the ECE Cultural Competency Project. The project was co-developed by the Musqueam Nation, BC Aboriginal Child Care Society, City of Vancouver, Collingwood Neighbourhood House, and other community partners to develops resources for early childhood educators to support their knowledge. Although the project was based in Vancouver it shares important knowledge that is relevant to all ECEs in British Columbia.
In this presentation participants will reflect together about the history and culture of Indigenous peoples in Canada; discuss the important role ECEs play in responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action; and learn about how programs can respectfully integrate their new knowledge into their programs.
