This workshop is designed to support participants in gaining a better understanding of the Indigenous teachings, values, and perspectives. Participants will discuss the importance of recognizing that Indigenous language and culture varies from nation to nation and from historic to present; however, there are key teachings, and values where there is a lot of overlap. Together, we will explore key Indigenous teachings about the circle of connection. In this circle are spirituality, values, knowledge, culture, oral traditions, language, governance, and the natural world. We will discuss how all things on earth are animate and have a spiritual connection, the importance of a continual search for knowledge, the use of storytelling to continue culture and language, and how ceremonies embody our culture and teachings.
