The development of 21st century skills begins in early childhood. Advocates for children’s play indicate the importance of integrating 21st century skills that are anchored in the 4cs – critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity – into early learning programs. Doing so will help support children in building these skills that they will draw upon as part of their life journey. This session will provide examples of how children’s environments can incorporate opportunities for children to be exposed to 21st century skills through their play.
