As Childcare providers we are taught how to facilitate the support the 5 key areas of children’s development and spend much of our time and energy thinking about and implementing games and activities to support this development. However, sometimes in the planning and implementing we forget about the connections that we need to create in order to make all the children feel safe enough to learn from us. This is especially true for children with challenges and different learning needs.
In this workshop we hope to help you create stronger bonds and deeper relationships with all children in your care. Through some examples and strategies, we will explore each developmental area through a relationship lens. We hope that you will be able to come away feeling a deeper understanding of the role that attachment and connection plays in your childcare centres especially in relation to some of the more challenging behaviors.
