Learning & Facilitating in the Forest with Loose Parts

Nature is a wonderful teacher, and free play in natural places is important for children’s early learning and sense of place. Learn about the growing movement towards forest schools and how you can incorporate elements of this style of outdoor learning into your child care. What challenges emerge when you are working with children outdoors? What inspirations can you bring to your outdoor classroom? Engage with a variety of loose parts in this hands-on workshop and reflect on how to support children in their outdoor play.

Tricia Edgar has worked with children in the temperate rainforests of Vancouver for over 25 years. She is the co-founder and director of Fresh Air Learning, a forest school in Metro Vancouver, and she is also one of the Education Programmers at the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre.
