Description:
Come and learn about the philosophy and practice of Forest and Nature School in Canada. We will discuss outdoor activities, risk management, how to be prepared and comfortable in all weather. We will explore some hands-on skills to deepen your practice and try out shelter building, knot tying/rope-play, learn some common local plants and discover oral storytelling.
Objectives:
• Learn about the history and philosophy of Forest and Nature Schools.
• Discuss risk management.
• Explore shelter building, rope-play, and knots.
• Identify some common local plants (edible and non-edible).
• Explore oral storytelling.

Presenter Information
Cara is the lead facilitator of both Fresh Air Learning and Out and About Adventures. She feels fortunate to be able to spend most of her time engaged in open ended, child-led, place-based play with children both in Pacific Spirit Park and Trout Lake. Cara has completed her ECE at VCC and holds a B.A. in English and Cultural Studies.
