Everyone enjoys and appreciates music! Introducing music to children benefits their development in many ways. But, we know not everyone is naturally musical. This workshop is designed for both musical and non-musical participants. In this workshop you will learn how music can be incorporated into children’s programs even if you feel you are not ‘musical’ yourself.
We will look at a variety of techniques for using music and applying musical techniques in the program to benefit the children and will help participants understand the developmental benefits that music can provide. Above all, participants will not only leave with a better understanding of how to use music creatively, but also will leave with useful resource materials and more confidence and motivation to introduce musical techniques to enhance their program.

Pat Bates has been in the E.C.E. field for 34 years. I have worked in both daycare and preschool and have owned and operated a successful licensed preschool 13 years. I have been teaching at the college level in Early Childhood Education programs for the past 24 years and have been dedicated to preparing my students to enter the Early Childhood field as successful quality educators. With music and teaching as my passion, I have also taught children’s music classes in several daycares and preschools in the Lower Mainland working with children from toddler to school age. With my business, Creative Resources and Workshops, I continue to facilitate many workshops for educators and parents and provide teaching resources for their ongoing curriculum development. I have been happily married for 32 years, have two boys, one 30 years old and married, and one 27 years old. I enjoy continuing to be actively involved in the E.C.E. community and look forward to any opportunities to motivate and inspire teachers
