Growing Leaders: Planting Seeds for Connection, Bravery and Leadership
Early childhood can play a key role in supporting children to develop budding leadership skills through
relationships and play. Good leadership requires high emotional intelligence because, at its essence,
leadership is about human connection and a shared vision of moving towards a common goal. Research
has found that emotional intelligence is four times more likely to predict a person’s success than IQ. In
this workshop, participants will develop a foundational understanding of leadership elements and how
play provides natural opportunities for children to build early leadership skills through the use of loose
parts, risk-taking, process-focused activities, and social-emotional development.
