This Seabird College program will focus on an integration of traditional teachings with DONA* approved certification:
• Traditional birthing practices such as placenta burying, traditional foods and key halq’emeylem words for the pregnancy and birthing process
• Concepts of trauma and attachment and traditional parenting
• Healthy eating in pregnancy and beyond, and breastfeeding
• A focus on honouring the birthing process as both a sacred and community event
Classes for this certification are every Friday starting Feb 3rd for six weeks. Sites for the classes will alternate between Seabird College and other communities in the Fraser Salish region.
