As educators, we know that quality programming is key to providing a meaningful and positive learning environment for our children. In this workshop, we will examine the fundamentals of an emergent pedagogical approach and how this approach can benefit our work. Educators will learn to develop programming that is child-centred and encourages exploration through play.

Cecily Genner is currently studying in the School of Social Work at the University of Victoria with a specialization in Child Protection. She has worked in School-Age Child Care at Jericho Kids’ Club for eight years and is a passionate advocate for continued education in the field. Located on Vancouver Island, she currently works in partnership with various BC-based organizations to provide school-age specific training for educators with a range of experience, from frontline staff to program managers. Along with her experience in childcare, Cecily brings with her a commitment to social justice through anti-oppressive and decolonizing practice.
