Emergency Preparedness for Child Care Providers
This workshop invites participants to review their personal and work site emergency preparedness plans and equipment to respond to critical incidents and natural disasters. There will be practical examples and scenarios to explore creative solutions for helping “kids cope” in emergencies. An introduction into the need for child care practitioners to assess and address the psychosocial responses and impacts children experience when exposed to trauma.

Carolyn Sinclair is Executive Director for Police Victim Services of BC & BC Crime Prevention Association. She is the Emergency Support Services (ESS) Director for the New Westminster Police Department and the Provincial Lead for the Mobil-Response Team (MRT) responding to the Health Crisis and Provincial Lead Alternate for the BC Disaster Psychosocial Services (DPS) Team. Carolyn is also the President of Strategic Business Risks International Inc. (SBRI) who delivers investigation, emergency management and educational solutions to public and private organizations and institutions. She has over 25 years of operational and practical experience in the areas of emergency management and is an instructor at the Justice Institute of BC in the Emergency Management Division and the Center for Conflict Resolution.
