This year the Child Advocacy Centre of Kelowna is focusing the ‘Victims and Survivors of Crime Week’ conversation around children! In this presentation, the CAC will highlight how service providers can better respond to and support children who may be experiencing, or are at risk to experience, abuse and/or neglect.
The presentation is intended for service providers that work directly with children, such as childcare providers, teachers and counsellors. The role of the CAC in our community, signs of abuse, duty to report, responding to abuse disclosures, and how to be a safe adult for the children in our lives will be discussed. The training will end with a question-and-answer period where attendees will have the opportunity to talk with the multi-disciplinary team on these topics.
This training aims to raise awareness around the impacts of child abuse, as well as equip service providers with the knowledge needed to effectively support children experiencing abuse and neglect.
- As childcare providers, we have the potential to stop child abuse from continuing, or ultimately from occurring in the first place. The first step in achieving this is through educating ourselves. Please join us for an evening of learning, conversation, and relationship building!
