| The 2018 University of Victoria Early Childhood Summer Institute draws inspiration from the new British Columbia Ministry of Education Language Arts and Arts Education curriculum by focusing on the importance of children using a range of texts and modes to make meaning in their worlds. During this course, participants will also reflect on the importance of providing a range of flexible learning environments for children as they engage in multimodal practices. As a collective, course participants will examine and explore the ways that young learners’ needs, strengths, and interests can be addressed and valued by drawing on a multimodal approach to learning for children.
