In this workshop, we will explore and design “dramascapes,” or scenarios that invite children to pretend and create stories, with a combination of materials and affordable artifacts that engage children with their aesthetic perceptions and awe. In addition, we will discuss practices of responding to what emerges in their exploration.
Suitable for all early learning professionals.

After teaching elementary and high school in Brazil, Elaine found her passion for educating young children when studying Early Childhood Education at the Vancouver Community College. Elaine has taken many roles in the field of early learning in the last twenty-five years. This includes teaching young children and instructing adults in a variety of contexts, such as college courses and workshops about inquiry-based learning through the arts and sciences, clay, wire and drama. She currently teaches early childhood education at a local university. Elaine is an enthusiast of Reggio Emilia pedagogy. She received a Masters of Arts in Education from Simon Fraser University, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D.
