Description:
Early Childhood Educators play an important role in supporting gender creative and transgender children, their peers, and their families in each child’s journey as they explore gender and express their authentic selves. In this workshop, we will use an intersectional approach to discuss concepts of power, privilege and positionally to understand how we can support transgender and gender creative children in the early years. This workshops is best suited for individuals with understanding of key concepts & terms relating to gender such as “gender expression”, “gender identity”, “transgender”, “non binary” etc. Learners will gain knowledge of the complex intersecting identities transgender and gender creative children hold and how this impacts the ways in which they move through the world. Together, we will learn how we can create safe, equitable and gender-expansive learning environments that understand each child as a whole.
