A child’s transition into Kindergarten is an important time and can be a big shift for many children. In this workshop we will discuss the Kindergarten curriculum, expectations, wonders and take some time to discuss ways to ease the transition into Kindergarten for our students and their families. How can we together support their social/emotional development and foster connection and alignment between the early years into Kindergarten. Let’s play, wonder, create and connect together! |

Presenter Information
Melanie grew up in a small town in Newfoundland where she was lucky enough to enjoy a childhood by the ocean. After receiving her B.Mus and B. Ed from Memorial University, she moved to BC in 1997 to continue graduate studies at the University of Victoria. She has been an active educator in BC for over 20 years having a plethora of teaching experiences from inspiring Kindergartens to building successful high school music programs. She is currently the Early Learning Lead for SD42. Melanie and her husband, Michael recently moved to Port Moody as “empty nesters” with both children recently beginning their undergrad studies at UVIC. She is excited to be able to walk by the ocean again and to reconnect to her passion for the performing arts and to continue to inspire early learners in the community.
