This workshop will allow educators to further their understanding of educational play while engaging in the topic of literacy in the early years. Together we will explore what literacy looks like, your current practices and how to expand your focus on early literacy skills in the early years through play.
Objectives:
• To identify what literacy looks like in the early years.
• To develop and expand an understanding of educational play in relation to early literacy.
• To learn ways to authentically engage literacy development through play and the environment.

Stephanie Siqueira
Presenter Information
Stephanie is currently working as an early literacy and numeracy teacher in the Surrey School district. She began her career as an ECE in the lower mainland and has since developed a passion for global education working in classrooms across the country, Europe, Mexico and Brazil. Stephanie’s work has focused on literacy, numeracy, pedagogical documentation and anti-bias education.
