Dance and Language Experiences for Children
In-Person Wednesday October 23, 2024 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Children love to dance, and this workshop will take you through age-appropriate movement elements and show you how to incorporate dance into your storytelling time. The first half of this workshop will get participants comfortable dancing themselves, while the second half will explore the link between dance, language, and literacy. Participants should come ready to move!

Suitable for students, parents, adult instructors/administrators, intermediate and experienced early care and learning professionals working with preschool children.
Facilitator(s): Lorraine White-Wilkinson
Lorraine holds an MA in Arts Education as well as a BA in Dance. She teaches independently, as well as holding contracts with Arts Umbrella, The Dance Centre, and The City of Vancouver. With over 35 years of teaching experience, she is an Early Learning Dance Specialist. Additionally, she holds a faculty position in the Education department at SFU teaching dance in education. Most recently Lorraine designed and wrote the Early Learning Arts Education Curriculum for Arts Umbrella.
