Is caring something you can teach a child? While we all desire caring and considerate children, there is much confusion regarding how to get there. Dr. Deborah MacNamara will address the developmental roots of these highly held virtues and the negative effects prevailing child-rearing practices have on caring. This presentation will focus on how parents and teachers can best cultivate these characteristics and social responsibility as a whole. It will include the story behind The Sorry Plane (her new children’s picture books) that aims to help adults preserve a child’s caring spirit and cultivate empathy.
