Come join us! We will be hosting Myles Himmelreich and Gary Anaka for 2 days of fun interactive learning on the beautiful North End of Vancouver Island.
Myles Himmelreich travels across Canada speaking about his life with FASD, and how others can better understand the disorder’s challenges. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is defined by Health Canada as a range of disabilities caused by the consumption of alcohol during pregnancy. This can cause developmental delays, intellectual problems and difficulty in social settings. People with FASD often have difficulty learning in school, understanding the consequences of their actions, handling money and telling the time. The condition can bring lifelong challenges with alcohol, drugs, holding down a job, paying rent or getting along with others in a socially appropriate manner. A diagnosis with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder does not need to limit a person’s potential. “It’s a matter of finding what the individual’s strengths are, and focussing on those. I think we much too often focus on what people can’t do, rather than what they can do,” – Myles Himmelreich.
Gary Anaka is a pioneer in Brain Health and Wellness. As a brain coach since 1997, he has presented over 1100 keynotes and workshops to people in all walks of life nationally and internationally. With the right conditions and appropriate support, the brain can grow to its fullest potential!
Is it possible to grow a child’s brain? Definitely, YES! With the right conditions and appropriate support, the brain can grow to its fullest potential. However, it takes years of well chosen experiences interacting with parents, teachers and caregivers to wire the billions of complex neural circuits needed for — language, emotions, math, creativity, logic, etc.
Discover:
- How movement grows the child’s brain
- How to consciously grow new dendrites every day
- Why play is the natural and genuine way the brain learns best
- Why imagination and creativity are critical to promote intelligence
- Research based strategies to build a brain for lifetime optimal performance
Early childhood is the most critical time for the human brain. Abilities and talents are hard wired in early childhood building the brain reserve that is needed for an entire life time.
