Join Burnaby Public Library children’s librarians Carol Belanger and Jamie McCarthy for a presentation on creating lively circle times using fun rhymes, puppets, felts, pom-poms and more. Story times help foster a healthy lifestyle in children by developing early literacy habits and encouraging social interactions, movement, play, and physical activity. This presentation will go over Storytime basics and will demonstrate engaging songs, rhymes, and picture books. It will also feature an overview of the materials needed for making felt story pieces and suggestions on how to incorporate felts and other props into your storytelling. Handouts with great resources will be available.

Presenter Information
Carol Belanger is the part-time Children's Librarian at McGill Branch of Burnaby Public Library. Jamie McCarthy is the Children’s Librarian at the Tommy Douglas Library, Burnaby Public Library. She is also a freelance artist and enjoys making felts, puppets, and other props to bring energy and enthusiasm to her story times. Her favourite rhyme is “Rabbit in a Hat.”
