What is Circle of Security Parenting and How is COSP™ Helpful for Carers?
Circle of Security Parenting™ (COSP) uses an eight-chapter video-based series. Although it is designed for parents, the program works equally well for increasing childcare providers’
awareness of attachment. The Circle of Security (COS) is a relationship based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents/caregivers and children.
Put simply, secure attachment has to do with helping children feel safe. Children with primary attachment difficulties may struggle with other caregiving relationships. Carers who complete the COSP program have the opportunity to learn about
children’s attachment needs, and learn to identify those attachment needs. In addition, when carers identify where on the Circle they struggle to meet their children’s needs, they can shift
their practice to better meet those needs and become the safe bases children need in their care.
Please note, this class requires an 8 week commitment. If you have any questions, need more information or would like to register, please contact CCRR Consultant Eileen Muzzin (Registered COSP™ Facilitator) at 250-492-2926
