Art of Positive Guidance: Strategies for School-Age Child Care Success

Leading with kindness, warmth and competence creates a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. We will explore practical tools designed to develop a team approach to guiding and caring, as well as up-to-date concepts that set the stage for inclusive, responsive, and effective strength-based learning community development.

This workshop is tailored for staff working with children aged 5-12, focusing on effective behaviour guidance, positive communication techniques, and dynamic group leadership strategies.

Living Inquiries:
Well-being and belonging.
Identities, social responsibility, and diversity.

Pathways:
Creating environments where children feel safe, valued, and connected emphasizes well-being and belonging. Inclusive and respectful practices foster emotional and physical well-being.
Encouraging children to explore and engage with their surroundings promotes curiosity and interaction. Supporting various forms of communication and recognizing individual identities fosters social responsibility and diversity.

Suitable for students, adult instructors/administrators, intermediate and experienced early care and learning professionals working with children of all ages, from infants/toddlers to school age children, including children with extra support needs.

Facilitator: Tyler Summers.
