Boundary Practice for Managers: October 2022

How can managers and administrators support frontline workers to establish and maintain healthy boundaries?
Organizations are increasingly encouraging frontline staff to participate in boundary workshops for professional development.

In this workshop hosted by the BC Council for Families, managers will learn to see common communication issues, conflicts, and workplace dynamics through a boundary lens, with a view to creating a “boundary-informed” culture at work.

A boundary-informed workplace is one that cultivates and supports healthy boundaries and integrated self-care for all. Managers will learn about their own boundary styles and patterns of relating, how to practice and model boundaries specifically in their role as a manager, and how to support staff in their own boundary practice and goals.

Workshop Highlights:

  • The context of human service work and the helping professions
  • Three boundary styles and how to recognize them
  • Somatic exercises and boundary practice
  • Applying boundary practice to the role of manager, with staff, clients and organizations
  • Interactive exercises in partners/small groups
  • Practice examples and scenarios
